AS Fabrics

Preserving Varanasi's ancient weaving traditions since 1994.

Our Story

Keeping the traditional hand weaving art of Varanasi alive. Discover how we make beautiful silk sarees by hand.

Made in Varanasi Since 1994

Weaving Beautiful Sarees with Love

AS Fabrics started in the small lanes of Varanasi. Here, weavers have been making beautiful sarees by hand for a very long time. We started our shop to bring these pure Banarasi silk sarees to everyone and help our weaver families earn a good, steady income.

Every saree in our collection is made with great care. Master weavers work for weeks or months to weave each piece. They learned this beautiful art from their parents and grandparents.

Premium quality

We believe in honesty and high quality. At AS Fabrics, we only use premium qualit threads. Every saree comes with the official Silk Mark certificate of India, so you know you are buying a genuine handwoven saree.

We work directly with our weavers without any middle agents. This means we can pay them a fair share of each sale. This money helps them look after their health, maintain their looms, and send their children to school.

Our Weaving Message
"A Banarasi saree is not just a piece of cloth. It is a story of Varanasi, woven by hand with silk and gold threads."
— Shri Ram Lal, Master Weaver
How We Make It

The Weaving Process

Step 1: Naksha design
01

The Design (Naksha)

First, we draw the design on graph paper. We draw beautiful flowers, leaves, and traditional patterns. These designs are used to make coding punch cards that guide the threads on the loom.

Step 2: Yarn Spinning
02

Dyeing & Spinning Yarns

We dye pure silk threads by hand in large pots. The gold and silver threads are wound onto wooden spools. This makes the threads ready for the weavers to use.

Step 3: Handloom Weaving
03

Weaving on the Loom

Weavers sit at the handloom to work. One moves the main threads and shuttle, while the helper manages the gold threads. Together, they weave only 2 to 4 inches of silk fabric a day.
